Research theme “Studying of biochemical mechanisms of regulation of Са2+ concentration in smooth muscle cells” The purpose of research – defining of biochemical mechanisms of the electro- and pharmaco-mechanical coupling in smooth muscles (mainly – myometrium, uterine smooth muscle, and other smooth muscles). Research focuses on comparative studying of energy-dependent Ca2+- and Na+-transporting systems of subcellular membrane structures. In particular, we are studing kinetic, catalitic and energetic properties of the plasma membrane calcium and sodium pumps, sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium pump and mitochondrial Ca2+ uniporter and regulation of their activity by physiologicaly active and pharmacological substances. Research theme “The structure-functional protein analysis at norm and some pathologies” The purpose of research – using of ATP-dependent enzyme proteins as models for investigation of effects of physiologicaly active and pharmacological substances on the intracellular cation exchange and contraction-relaxation cycle in smooth muscle. We are studying the Ca2+-transporting and contractile proteins and regulation of their activity by polyamines. Research theme “Research of influence and mechanisms of calixaren action on ionic transport systems in subcellular membrane structures of smooth muscles. The purpose of research – studing of biochemical mechanisms of calixaren action on energy-dependent Ca2+- and Na+-transporting systems of subcellular membrane structures (plasma membrane, sarcoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria) and on non-enzymatic ATP hydrolise.
